Finding Your Life Purpose
What is your life purpose? Having a purpose is what motivates you and defines your direction in life. Do you have a passion? To find your passion, look at the things you enjoy doing and that you do well. Examine how your integrity can align with your passion. Think about your past dreams. Use your past dreams to awaken your future dreams. Find a way to replace these dreams with reality.
Purpose goes hand in hand with passion. Success without purpose isn’t success. It is more about working toward your life purpose which supports you spiritually, mentally and physically. It could be considered your calling in life. When you live in alignment with your purpose, you feel a sense of well-being. You know you are on the right path. If you are in tune with your spirituality and intuitiveness, things will just seem to fall into place. You must pay attention to what comes your way and take action if you feel it is in alignment with your life purpose before the opportunity fades.
Do you have a mission statement? Your purpose determines your mission. For instance, my mission statement is: I like helping others to find their true potential, find peace, confidence, feel valued and to be inspired.
You must align your purpose with your needs, abilities, and desires. That is, how you live, what you are naturally good at and what you enjoy doing.
So how do you define your purpose? By clarifying it and trying to live it. If you don’t choose, things will get chosen for you. Consider various ways you might live your life, imagine it and start living that way. Always strive for the higher way of life. So start by asking yourself, “what do I want?” “What are my strengths?” “What are my values?” Once you figure out your answers, you need to figure out how to follow your purpose. You can search the internet and find blogs, read articles or books.
What is your vision statement? Your vision is your view or understanding of your ultimate life purpose. It is your “why.” An effective personal vision includes all the important elements of your life, both personal and career. It is who you want to be, what you want to do, how you want to feel, what you want to own, and who you associate with. It can help you see into the future, but you must be grounded in the present. Your statement addresses who you are and who you are becoming.
My vision is to help people to find their passions in life, help them to develop goals and encourage them to reach their full potential.
So ask yourself these questions:
- What do I enjoy doing in my free time?
- What are my interests or hobbies?
- If I knew I could not fail, what would be my dream?
- If money were not an issue, what would I be doing with myself? (Besides going on vacations.)
- What are your core values?
- What do I feel drawn to?
- What do I like reading about?
I had my own personal life coach and when she asked me what I saw myself doing, I froze. I didn’t know the answer. I had to think but it really didn’t take me long. I’ve always loved anything about fitness, ever since I was very young and it has continued to this very day. I became more interested in my health when my father was diagnosed with cancer back in 1997. I started learning about how certain nutrients can have a significant effect on cancer. This fascinated me. I soon realized that a healthy diet and regular exercise can help build up your immune system and will help your body naturally fight off certain diseases. Coming from a family history rich with cancer, I knew that a good diet with the freshest, high-quality ingredients was a must for me. When I started eating better, I noticed that I wasn’t getting sick anymore. This has become a whole new way of life for me.
So, as a Health Coach in Lehigh Valley, I’m into fitness and health and I also love teaching what I know to other people. That’s why a career in transformational coaching resonated with me.
